Bangor Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex

Pickie Fun Park

A great way to spend an afternoon riding on the pedal swans, swinging that putter on an 18 hole maritime themed mini golf course, enjoying the trip on the miniature train Pickie Puffer, cooling down on the splash pad, electric car track, children’s play ground and of course well earned refreshments in the cafe.

Bangor Marina

One of Ireland’s largest marinas enjoys pride of place in Bangor with piers and beautiful coastal walks for miles in either direction. Numerous places to sit and watch the world go by or catch a boat trip out and about in Belfast Lough. Maybe even try a spot of fishing?

Ward Park

Ward Park covers an area of 37 acres and among its attractions are a children’s playground, all weather hockey pitches, cricket pitch, bowling greens, putting green and tennis courts. It also has a chain of small lakes providing wildfowl sanctuary with many interesting specimens and dry pens containing a large variety of exotic birds.

Heritage Center

Learn something of the fascinating saga of the area in Northern Ireland’s most visited small museum, located around a covered courtyard at the rear of Bangor Castle. The story of the region’s history, archaeology and wildlife unfolds before you through a series of exciting audio-visual displays and intriguing exhibits. Here you will see examples of archaeological finds, such as the Ballycrochan Swords, dating from 500 BC, and a 9th Century hand bell which marks the period when Bangor’s monastery was one of the most important in Christendom.

National Trust – Mount Stewart

One of the most inspiring and unusual gardens in the National Trust’s ownership. The garden reflects a rich tapestry of design and great planting artistry. The mild climate of Strangford Lough allows astonishing levels of planting experimentation. The formal areas exude a strong Mediterranean feel; the wooded areas support a range of plants from all corners of the world, ensuring something to see whatever the season.

Stunningly unique 18th-century mansion, famed for its mixture of architectural styles Castle Ward will take you on a journey of discovery. The 18th-century eccentric house with two distinctly different styles, classical and Gothic, will entice you to explore further. Ulster Folk & Transport Museum

One of the finest museums in Ireland. The Folk Museum illustrates the way of life and the traditions of the people of the north of Ireland. The Transport Museum displays Ireland’s largest and most comprehensive transport collection, from horse-drawn carts to Irish built motor cars, and from the mighty steam locomotives that graced our railways to the history of ship and aircraft building.

Game of Thrones - Winterfell

Winterfell, Castle Ward, Co. Down Castle Ward, which may be more familiar as Winterfell, overlooks the beautiful Strangford Lough. Inside this beautiful 820 acre walled demesne you will find the spectacular house, an exotic sunken garden and a haunting woodland. Robb Stark’s Camp, Audley’s Field, Strangford Lough Lots of drama unfolds in Audley’s Field and Castle by Strangford Lough. Visit and you can even explore Robb’s Trail, one of two Game Of Thrones self-guided cycling tours provided by Clearsky Adventure Centre in the Castle Ward Estate.
